2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Safety Features

Mercedes-Benz has always been known as a luxury brand that combines understated power with the latest in top-notch features and safety. The 2020 C-Class is no exception. The company’s engineers have developed numerous innovations designed to protect passengers and avoid accidents. A classic example of the technological motivation and dedication Mercedes-Benz brings to the table is the invention of the crumple zone.

Today, Mercedes-Benz continues to lead the automobile industry with its innovative breakthroughs. Visit Mercedes-Benz of Sacramento today, discover the latest innovative safety features available on the C-Class and take a test-drive.

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC®

Cruise control is an invaluable tool when traveling long distances. With Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, drivers of the C-Class have assistance with keeping a safe distance between themselves and the vehicles ahead. When it’s enabled, this system ensures that a select car length is maintained between the vehicles. The C-Class will slow itself as traffic in front of it slows or stops. If necessary, the car will completely stop itself in order to maintain the correct distance.

Adaptive Braking Technology

Adaptive braking technology is actually a combination of four separate features that work together on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Automatic Brake Drying sweeps away built-up water from the brakes using slight pressure. Drivers can engage the brake HOLD feature by firmly pushing on the brake an extra time while waiting in stopped traffic. Predictive Brake Priming positions the brake pads closer to the wheels when it senses that the driver has removed their foot from the accelerator quickly. Hill-Start Assist ensures that the Mercedes-Benz C-Class doesn’t roll back when the brake is disengaged.

Adaptive Highbeam Assist

Using a camera dedicated solely to Adaptive Highbeam Assist, the roadway ahead of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is constantly scanned for the presence of other vehicle lights. Using their calculated position, the light emitted from the Mercedes-Benz C-Class headlamps is varied precisely so that the driver experiences the maximum in illumination while protecting other drivers from glare.

ATTENTION ASSIST® is an industry first that applies innovative technology to address driver fatigue. Within the first few minutes of driving the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, this safety system uses more than 70 parameters to determine the driver’s particular style. Throughout the journey, ATTENTION ASSIST® detects steering conditions that could indicate drowsiness. After accounting for other factors such as the smoothness of the road, crosswinds, the frequency of driver interactions with the wheel and more, if ATTENTION ASSIST® determines driver fatigue is a factor, an alert sounds.

LED Intelligent Light System

Each headlamp on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is comprised of numerous light-emitting diodes (LEDs). These are designed to generate light that is closest to how people see natural daylight. This system can shift the distance and direction of the beams depending on the speed and steering of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class as well as other traffic.
