A Smarter Car for a Smarter Tomorrow
The all-new 2021 S-Class is full of new driver-assist safety features. These features help reduce the workload for the driver and let them ride in comfort and safety, and in dangerous situations. In addition, they can respond and prevent impending collisions. With the next-generation steering wheel with capacitive hand off recognition sensors, there is no need for steering wheel movement, just grab the wheel and full control of the vehicle is in your hands. And the technology goes even further with the augmented reality display, giving you an animated display that visualizes system status and helps depict surroundings. With the 2021 S-Class, driving has never been easier!
Loaded with Sensors
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes loaded with sensors to make sure the driver-assist features work properly. The front of the vehicles comes with 3 radar sensors, 2 multimode sensors, and 1 long-range sensor. The rear of the vehicle also has 2 multimode sensors. It also comes with 4 cameras strategically positioned to give a full 360-degree range, as well as a front multipurpose camera for detecting road signs and other objects, while also eliminating blind spots.
Lane Assist Features
Driving on the highway has been made a breeze by Mercedes-Benz. Between Active Lane Keeping Assist features and Active Distance Assist features, your drive will be safe and pleasurable. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC will have the car automatically maintain a preset distance between you and the car in front of you, no matter the type of road.
The 2021 S-Class has an Active Steering Assist System that helps the driver follow the driving lane at speeds up to 130 miles per hour. This system uses a 360-degree camera, ensuring that the lanes are always in sight. This feature coupled with the Active lane Keeping assist, which keeps the vehicle in between lanes when lane drifting occurs, can keep the car on a smooth and comfortable path, no matter the destination. The Lane Changing Assist feature lets you change in safety by monitoring blindspots to make sure it is clear to change.
The 2021 S-Class also has an advanced Traffic Sign assist feature, which has the ability to recognize posted speed limits, overhead road signs, and signs at construction zones, giving a more automated experience. It can even warn you of upcoming stop signs and red traffic lights, so nothing will be missed and cause any dangerous situations.
Avoid Collisions
The Mercedes Benz S-Class has many features to help actively prevent collisions. The Active Emergency Stop system will brake the vehicle to a standstill if it detects an incoming object, and can notify you of the braking action by pulsing the brakes. The ATTENTION ASSIST® system is able to recognize driver fatigue and inattention, and will notify the driver to take a break, and can also recognize microsleep by monitoring driver eyelid movements. The sensors of the car can also determine if an intersection has a possible collision scenario using the Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function, and the Active Blind Spot Assist and exit warning function will warn giants exciting a vehicle if another vehicle or bicycle is passing the critical area.
The Evasive Steering Assist System can help the driver avoid road hazards. The system can recognize a plethora of items, including stationary or crossing pedestrians, other vehicles, and cyclists. In the event of a crash, the PRESAFE® Impulse Slide acts as a sort of virtual crumple zone by moving the affected driver or front passenger away from the dangerous area within the vehicle.
